Our Story
A hearth that has burned for eighteen generations
The Essiga lya Ggere is the hearth and lineage of the Ggere people — a family of the Lugave clan, whose totem is the pangolin, rooted at Malanga, Ssese in Buganda, Uganda.
The line begins with Ssebwana, remembered as Katikkiro and a trusted guardian of Buganda — the first Ggere. From him the family descends through eighteen recorded generations down to the present day, each name carried forward and kept here for the children still to come.
