Youth, Sports & Education
1. Purpose of the Position
The Youth, Sports and Education Representative on Essiga Lya Ggere Management Trust is responsible for representing and promoting the interests, and needs of young people within essiga Lya Ggere. He/She provides leadership and guidance on matters relating to youth development, education, sports, skills development, and opportunities for young people.
The representative shall ensure that youth, sports, and education considerations are incorporated into the plans, policies, programs, and decisions of the Management/Trust Committee.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Youth Representation and Development
• Represent the views, interests, and concerns of young people before the Management/Trust Committee.
• Identify challenges affecting youth and recommend appropriate interventions.
• Promote youth leadership, empowerment, mentorship, and skills development.
• Serve as a communication link between the Trust Committee and youth groups with the Ssiga.
• Promote collaboration and networking among youth and relevant stakeholders.
• Identify potential partners and resources to support youth, sports, and education initiatives.
• Participate in fundraising and resource-mobilization initiatives approved by the Committee.
B. Education
• Identify educational needs and recommend appropriate programs and interventions.
• Promote scholarships, bursaries, vocational training, apprenticeships, mentorship, and other learning opportunities where applicable.
• Establish or support partnerships with schools, training institutions, educational organizations, and other relevant stakeholders.
C. Sports
Promote sports, recreation, and healthy lifestyles among young people and the Ssiga members.
Encourage participation in sporting activities and competitions.
Identify opportunities for developing sporting talent among youth.
Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, inclusion, and fair play.
D. Management Trust Committee Participation and Governance
• Attend and actively participate in Management/Trust Committee meetings.
• Present reports, proposals, and recommendations relating to youth, sports, and education.
• Contribute to the development of Trust policies, strategic plans, budgets, and programs.
• Participate in relevant subcommittees, working groups, and projects as assigned.
• Exercise the responsibilities of the position in accordance with the Trust's constitution, policies, and applicable laws
